A little bit about me...
I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan in 1993, a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Wayne State University in 2001, and a second Master's s degree in Educational Technology from Marygrove College in 2016.
I have been an educator with Detroit Public Schools for 23 years. I started my career in 1993 as a 3rd grade teacher at Dixon Elementary and in 2001 I continued teaching the same grade at Ronald Brown Academy (RBA). In 2010, I was given the opportunity to become the Computer Applications teacher at RBA where I had the pleasure of teaching computers to multiple grade levels. In addition to teaching, I was a S.T.E.A.M. after school coordinator, an online assessment coordinator, and a member of the Instructional Leadership Team. I was also the facilitator of the Black Light Mime Team and Computer Club (see below) and I an participant on many school programs.
In 2016, I joined the Cooke S.T.E.M. Academy team as the Technology Instructional Specialist. This position has been very rewarding because it allows me to find innovative ways to use technology as a tool to enhance learning. I have the opportunity to provide hands on technology instruction to teachers and students and partake in our shift to a S.T.E.M. focused learning center.
